New signs will let tractor & trailer drivers know that Highway 194 between Valle Crucis & Matney is prohibited for travel. The signs were installed on Tuesday October 23, 2013.
One of the new signs has been placed just before the turn to Dutch Creek Road.
During the week of October 14 new signs were also placed on Wilson's Ridge Road in Boone
194 from Valle Crucis to Matney & Wilson's Ridge Road have long been problem areas for tractor & trailers getting stuck. It's widely believed that GPS is mostly to blame for leading trucks across both routes.
