Multiple agencies respond to early morning fire in Valle Crucis on Thursday

At approximately 2 AM today, Thursday, April 11, 2024, Cove Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on the 3000 block of NC Highway 194 South in Valle Crucis.

The home was a total loss, according to Emma Ward with the Watauga County Fire Marshal's Office. The fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries.

Valle Crucis School was on a delay due to the severity of the structure fire, and the fact that there were multiple hose lines and departments still on scene at 7 am, delaying traffic throughout the morning.

Cove Creek was aided at the scene by Foscoe Fire, Boone Fire, Watauga Medics, Watauga County Rescue Squad, Blue Ridge Energy, Shawneehaw Fire, Watauga County Emergency Management, Zionville Fire, Beaver Dam Fire, Seven Devils Fire, Fall Creek Fire (Avery County) and Watauga County Sheriffs Office.
