At just after 1:00 p.m. on July 4th, Watauga County Communications received a text to 911 message that a hiker on the Hebron Falls Trail was suffering from a serious allergic reaction requiring medical attention. Communications requested that the hiker stay in place to wait for responders to arrive.
Responding to the scene were Foscoe and Blowing Rock Fire Departments, Watauga County Rescue Squad, Watauga County EMS, and Watauga County EM. The patient was located quickly and was transported from the scene just before 3:00 p.m. after a multi-agency carryout.
Watauga County Emergency Services would like to thank all who assisted and would like to remind the public to utilize text to 911 services if you are in need and unable to complete a phone call. Remember when texting for assistance to stay at your location until assistance arrives since responders will be directed to that last known location.
