The Watauga Medical Center reporting station (KTNB)  recorded highs of 80.6 on Saturday and 83.3 on Sunday. Though that reporting station is not the “official” station for historical temperature records, it is quite clear that records were broken.

Sunday's high of 83.3 was the hottest May 13th since at least 2002, though Monday May 13, 2013 hit 82.4

Data from the State Climate Office states the record high for May 12th & 13th are:

*In keeping track of weather records (temperatures, rainfall, snowfall, wind) it’s important to note that the records for Boone relies on three different sources. Boone COOP station 310977 from 1929-1980, Boone 1Se 310982 from June 1980-present and Watauga Medical Center reporting station KTNB.*
