One of several rounds of strong storms, moving through Avery County, resulted in six people being injured after a lightning strike at a Banner Elk business.
The strike occurred on the property of Alpine Coaster, located near the entrance to Sugar Mountain, on Tuesday afternoon.
Some of those injured were reportedly sitting on rocks close to where the strike occurred. The above photo shows the location of the strike. No one was hit directly and none of the injuries were believed to life-threatening. No one was on the coaster at the time.
