The N.C. Department of Transportation is helping holiday traffic flow smoother along U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock by temporarily suspending lane closures and avoiding construction that could impact motorists.
There will be no lane closures along the U.S. 321 widening project starting Friday, Dec. 20 at 6 a.m. through Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at 6 p.m. Crews from contractor Maymead, Inc. will be working on the project during some of this period, weather permitting, but that work won’t require traffic control and should not impact holiday travel.
The NCDOT reminds all motorists to drive cautiously in work zones. The speed limit along U.S. 321 is 35 miles per hour, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol will monitor this corridor for speeding violations.
Call the project hotline at (828) 964-3260 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to speak to an NCDOT representative. The hotline will not be available Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1, 2014.
