The National Weather Service office in Blacksburg, Virginia has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north central North Carolina, northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia, including Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany and Wilkes counties.

Day One — Today and Tonight

Isolated strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts are the primary hazard.

Days Two Through Seven — Saturday Through Thursday

Isolated strong to severe storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts are the primary hazard, and heavy rainfall may also lead to urban, small stream and flash flooding.

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
