Flood Watch In Effect From Noon Today Through Friday Afternoon – Dec 20-21, 2018

…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON EST TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY
AFTERNOON…

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and Virginia,
including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany
NC, Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In
Virginia, Amherst, Bedford, Botetourt, Campbell, Carroll,
Floyd, Franklin, Grayson, Henry, Patrick, Pittsylvania,
Roanoke, and Rockbridge.

* From noon EST today through Friday afternoon

* 1.5 to over 2 inches of rain, on top of saturated soils will
occur through Friday.

* Runoff from this rain could cause small stream and river
flooding, as well as some urban flooding. In addition, larger
rivers could flood as early as Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
