…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY

  • WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • WHERE…Portions of northwest North Carolina, including the
    following areas, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes and
    southwest Virginia, including the following area, Grayson.
  • WHEN…From midnight EST tonight through Tuesday evening.
  • IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
    creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
    Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
    in poor drainage and urban areas.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
  • 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected to fall during this
    period. Rain could be heavy at times, leading to potential
    flood conditions.
