Boone, Stuart, Independence, and Troutdale

…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING…

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

  • Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and Virginia, including
    the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe,
    Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin. In
    Virginia, Carroll, Grayson, Henry and Patrick.
  • From late tonight through Monday morning
  • Remnants of Hurricane Delta will move across the forecast area
    tonight and Sunday bringing an extended period of moderate
    rainfall.
  • Widespread rainfall of 3 to 4 inches with local amounts in excess
    of 4 inches will result in flooding of low-lying, poor drainage,
    and normally flood prone areas. Small creeks and streams will
    experience significant rises and may exceed flood stage before the
    rain ends Monday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert
for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding
should be prepared to take action should flooding develop or a Flood
or Flash Flood Warning is issued.
