…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING…
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a
- Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and Virginia, including
the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe,
Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin. In
Virginia, Carroll, Grayson, Henry and Patrick.
- From late tonight through Monday morning
- Remnants of Hurricane Delta will move across the forecast area
tonight and Sunday bringing an extended period of moderate
- Widespread rainfall of 3 to 4 inches with local amounts in excess
of 4 inches will result in flooding of low-lying, poor drainage,
and normally flood prone areas. Small creeks and streams will
experience significant rises and may exceed flood stage before the
rain ends Monday morning.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert
for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding
should be prepared to take action should flooding develop or a Flood
or Flash Flood Warning is issued.
