…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON…

  • WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
    expected.
  • WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the
    following county, Watauga.
  • WHEN…Until 400 PM EST Friday.
  • IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
    and flood-prone locations is imminent due to excess runoff from
    continuous light to moderate rainfall through the morning. This
    includes the Watauga River. Low-water crossings are inundated with
    water and may not be passable.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
  • At 947 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area.
  • Some locations that will experience flooding include…
    Beech Mountain, Sugar Grove, Foscoe, Seven Devils, Valle
    Crucis, Rominger and Lovill.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
