…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of Watauga County in northwest North Carolina.

* WHEN…Until 530 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 227 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
– This includes the following streams and drainages…
Grassy Gap Creek, Laurel Branch, Dutch Creek, Meat Camp
Creek, Brushy Fork, Craborchard Creek, Cove Creek, Elk Creek,
Laurel Creek, Grassy Creek, Beech Creek, Beaverdam Creek,
Laurel Fork and George Gap Branch.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
