…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY
MORNING…

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and Virginia,

In North Carolina:  Alleghany NC, Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin.

In Virginia: Amherst, Bedford, Carroll, Floyd, Franklin, Grayson, Henry, and Patrick.

Repetitive rounds of heavy rain from thunderstorms on increasingly saturated soils will make conditions more favorable for flash flooding through Friday morning.

Expect an average of 1 to 4 inches of rain through Friday morning. Higher amounts are possible in short periods of time which could cause flash flooding. Streams, creeks, and small rivers, as well as urban areas could have flooding issues.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember…TURN AROUND…DON`T DROWN!

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
