Crime Stoppers seeks help with attempted larceny/robbery at Boone Greenway Trail entrance

UPDATE Thursday July 28 –

On July 28th, 2022, the Boone Police Department obtained warrants for the arrest of Artemio Jesus Nanez Perez, DOB 3-22-2002, for two counts of Attempted Robbery and two counts of Assault. These warrants were obtained from an incident that occurred on the Boone Greenway Trail on July 26th, 2022. In addition to the Robbery warrants, Perez has a probation post-release warrant. Mr. Perez also removed his electronic monitoring device.

Perez was last seen in the 300 block of Wildcat Road in Deep Gap. Perez was seen wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. Perez’s hair has recently been cut and is shorter than the previously posted photos. A photo has been attached of a recent picture of Perez with shorter hair.

The Boone Police Department is asking that anyone with information regarding the location of this suspect, is asked to call Crime Stoppers or the Boone Police Department at 828-268-6900. High Country Crime Stoppers and Boone Police seek the public’s assistance in solving the following incident:

On July 26, 2022, around 3:15 p.m., Boone Police officers responded to a robbery at the Boone Greenway Trail entrance on Deerfield Road. The suspect assaulted the victim and then attempted to steal the victim’s car. The suspect then fled the scene on foot toward State Farm Road and the victim pursued him. The suspect assaulted the victim again and continued to flee. The suspect was described as a young Hispanic male with dark hair and an average build.

The Boone Police Department is seeking to identify the individual in the attached photos. They are also seeking any witnesses to the incident or those who may have been present when the incident occurred.
