Colder Weather On Tap For First Full Week Of March 2019

Much colder temperatures and the possibility of some snow will be the weather story for the first full week of March.

After a pleasant sunny day on Saturday, and a high in Boone of 58, today (Sunday) brings near 100% chance of rain and cooler high temperatures in the lower 40s. 

The change back to more winter-like conditions begins tonight (Sunday night) with rain in the evening, then a chance of snow showers and freezing rain after midnight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Little or no snow accumulation is expected. With northwest winds forecast to be 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph, wind chill values as low as 10 above are expected after midnight, air temperatures are forecast to be in the mid 20s. 

Wind chill values as low as the single digits to around 10 above will continue to be the main weather headline for a majority of the week, Monday through Thursday. 

Wind gusts on Monday are forecast up to 35 mph, then up to 25 mph on Monday night.

There is a chance for snow showers or patchy freezing drizzle on Monday morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon.

Monday Night – Partly cloudy. Cold with lows around 20. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Wind chill values as low as 10 above.

Tuesday – Sunny. Highs in the mid 30s. Northwest winds around 10 mph, becoming west 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Wind chill values as low as 10 above.

Tuesday Night – Mostly clear in the evening, then partly cloudy with scattered flurries after midnight. Cold with lows around 10 above. Wind chill values as low as 10 below after midnight.

Wednesday And Wednesday Night – Mostly clear. Highs in the upper 20s. Lows around 20. Wind chill values as low as 10 below.

Thursday – Mostly sunny. Not as cool with highs around 40. Wind chill values as low as 5 above in the morning.

Thursday Night – Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow showers after midnight. Not as cool. Near steady temperature in the lower 30s. Chance of snow 50 percent.

Friday – A chance of snow showers in the morning. Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers. Highs in the lower 40s. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.

Friday Night – Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain showers. Near steady temperature in the upper 30s.

Saturday – Mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. A 40 percent chance of rain showers. Highs in the lower 50s.
