Closures Extended for U.S. 321 and N.C. 105

BLOWING ROCK – The N.C. Department of Transportation has extended the closures of U.S. 321 and N.C. 105 in the eastern mountains until at least the evening of April 14.

Crews have closed U.S. 321 near Blowing Rock from Blackberry Road to Green Hill Road to assess impacts from an overnight slide.

Also, N.C. 105 will remain closed from Broadstone Road to Old Shulls Mill Road as crews safely stabilize slopes adjacent to the roadway and clear materials from the road after a blasting operation earlier in the week.

Updates will follow for both incidents.

Drivers are encouraged to utilize the following detours for both closures:

From Boone:

  • Take U.S. 421 South to Wilkesboro
  • Take N.C. 16 South to N.C. 18
  • Take N.C. 18 South to Lenoir
  • Take U.S. 64 West/N.C. 18 South to Morganton
  • Take N.C. 181 North to Linville to N.C. 105

From Linville:

  • Take U.S. 221 South to Pineola
  • Take N.C. 181 South to Morganton
  • Take U.S. 64 East/N.C. 18 North to Lenoir
  • Take N.C. 18 South to N.C. 16 North
  • Take N.C. 16 North to U.S. 421 North in Wilkesboro
  • Take U.S. 421 North to U.S. 321 in Boone
