The Town of Boone would like to provide a public service announcement regarding the upcoming road closures which will be taking place in Downtown Boone during Boonerang Music & Arts Festival. The festival will be taking place from Friday, June 19th through Sunday, June 21st. Road closures will be taking place beginning early Thursday, June 18th, and will be reopening late Sunday, June 21st.
Road Closures
Thursday, June 18th:
7:00 a.m.: South Depot Street, from Rivers Street to Howard Street (reopen late Saturday evening)
Friday, June 19th:
7:00 a.m.: North Depot Street, from West King Street to Queen Street (reopen late Sunday evening)
2:00 p.m.: South Depot Street, from West King Street to Rivers Street & Howard Street, from 277 Howard Street (ECRS) to 747 West King Street (Southend Brewing) (reopen late Saturday evening)
West King Street, Queen Street, Water Street/Burrell Street, and Appalachian Street will remain open throughout the festival. Increased pedestrian traffic will take place. Motorists who are not planning to attend Boonerang Music & Arts Festival are asked to please avoid the Downtown Boone area and plan to take alternate routes.
Parking
Hourly metered parking is available along West King Street, with long-term meters located on Queen Street for parking during the festival. Designated spots along West King Street in front of the Jones House (604 West King Street) and the Downtown Boone Post Office (680 West King Street) will be reserved for handicapped access.
Additional parking is available in Appalachian State University's public lots and decks (more information at www.parking.appstate.edu/), at the First Baptist Church of Boone (537 West King Street), and the Watauga County Social Services lot (132 Poplar Grove Connector). Carpooling to the festival is encouraged. Additional signage and volunteer guides will be available to assist with parking during the festival.
