Boone man charged with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder after hit & run

On May 30, 2024, at approximately 5:25 PM, the Watauga County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 1372 NC 194 North. 

Emergency services, including Watauga Medics, Boone Fire, Watauga Rescue Squad, NC State Highway Patrol, and the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders discovered that two individuals had been hit by a vehicle, which subsequently fled the scene. 

Life-saving measures were immediately initiated, and both victims were transported by ambulance to Watauga Medical Center. One of the victims was later airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center. 

As of this time, both victims are in stable condition.

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the NC State Highway Patrol are actively investigating the incident. 

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Bryan Osborne of Boone, NC, and charged him with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder. 

Mr. Osborne was presented before the Magistrate and has been denied bail.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the names of the victims will not be released at this time. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult period.”, the Sheriff’s Office said.
