Warming centers in Avery County are on standby for the extreme cold moving into the area.
Avery County Rock Gym will be on standby as a warming center with personnel monitoring and ready to activate, according to Avery County Fire Marshal/Emergency Management.
If you need a warming center starting on Sunday night into Thursday night, please call Avery Communications non-emergency line at (828)733-3858.
Other warming centers are also on standby strategically across the county.
