Avery County Sheriff’s Office seeks help locating missing runaways

UPDATE MONDAY NOVEMBER 2, 8:47 pm – The females have been located and are now in custody of child protective services, according to Avery County Sheriff Kevin Frye.


The Avery County Sheriff's Office is seeking help locating two missing runaways.

Grace Emma Burby, age 14, was reported as a runaway from Crossnore School for Children on Thursday, October 29.

She was with another female runaway, also from Crossnore School for Children, Alanis Davila, age 15.

Grace Burby is in the custody of Madison County NC DSS and Alanis Davila is in the custody of Watauga County DSS.

Both females were known to have been picked up and given a ride to Mountain City, TN.
