Avery County Emergency Management is staging equipment at the Newland Rock Gym for a warming shelter for the impending weather.
At this time (8:14 pm Sunday, January 14, 2024) the shelter is not operational.
In the event of power loss and extreme temperature forecast, this facility will be opened for use by the Avery Parks and Rec and Emergency Management staff.
