Two Fleetwood residents are facing felony child abuse charges following a joint investigation by the Ashe County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff B. Phil Howell announced the arrest of Angel Faith Greene, 25, and Tyler Steven Greene, 27, both of Fleetwood, N.C.

On June 3, 2026, the Ashe County Sheriff's Office received a call from Brenner's Children Hospital in Winston-Salem regarding the suspected abuse of an Ashe County minor.

According to the arrest warrant, the defendants “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did intentionally inflict, intentionally commit an assault that resulted in serious physical injury” on G.G., a 3-month-old child. The warrant lists the injuries as four broken ribs, subarachnoid hemorrhage, right flank hematoma, pattern bruising, diffuse bruising, and petechiae. The warrant states that at the time the injuries were inflicted, the defendant was the child's parent.

Both individuals were arrested on June 8, 2026, without incident and transported to the Ashe County Detention Center, where they were initially held under no bond. In North Carolina, a no-bond order means a judge has ordered that the individual remain in custody until the case is resolved or a new bond hearing is held.

On June 10, 2026, both individuals appeared for their first court appearance and received a $250,000 bond each. Both remain in custody at the Ashe County Detention Center.

Each is charged with one count of Felony Child Abuse with Serious Injury.

The sheriff's office stated that no further information regarding the condition of the minor or the specific nature of the abuse will be released at this time to protect the privacy of the child. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
