Since 1968, field hockey has paved the way for future student-athletes, and 10 women's sports were implemented, providing a chance for over 175 student-athletes to achieve their goal of earning a scholarship and playing a collegiate sport at a high level.
During the 2018-19 athletics calendar year, the Department of Athletics will recognize all women's sports to celebrate this milestone with special events and reunions.
The celebration will start with an opening weekend dinner Friday, Sept. 21, in Appalachian's Roess Dining Hall from 6-7 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. Special recognition for the Appalachian Trailblazers will be held at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 22, when Appalachian State football takes on Gardner-Webb inside The Rock, all alumnae from women's sports will be recognized during the game. Every former female student-athlete will receive a ticket to the game, while a guest ticket is $30.
Capping off the exciting weekend will be a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for field hockey and their brand-new field hockey facility on Sunday, Sept. 23, against ACC foe Louisville at 11 a.m.
Former female student-athletes planning to attend the weekend's festivities, you can register by going HERE.
