2.1 Magnitude Earthquake Measured Near Blowing Rock on Saturday Night

An earthquake near Blowing Rock was recorded late Saturday night. The 2.1 quake was centered at 9.4 miles east south-east of Blowing Rock and 12.2 miles southeast of Boone at 11:55 pm, according to the United States Geological Society.  

The last time an earthquake was recorded close to Boone was on November 11, 2018 when a 2.0 magnitude was recorded in the Whaley community of Avery County, 14 miles west of Boone.
