It's that time of year when the fall season meets winter-like temperatures, and that will be the case next week.
The coldest temperatures so far this fall are expected Wednesday and Thursday mornings, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). After highs mainly in the 60s for much of October, the High Country is forecast to drop into the 40s for highs and in the 20s for lows with areas of frost likely.
The colder conditions are expected to begin Monday night and will likely bring an end to the growing season before highs rebound into the 50s on Thursday.
The other weather story will be gusty northwest winds on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to NWS. Gusts over 30 mph are possible in the higher elevations.
