The Watauga High School men's and women's varsity basketball teams are both Co-Champions of the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference and will host the NWC Tournament this week.
The men's team defeated Ashe on Friday night by a score of 67-43. It secured their share of the Northwest Conference Championship for the first time since 1999.
The women's team clinched their share of the title in a loss to Ashe 62-59 in overtime.
Tournament brackets were released Saturday, and it's #1 seed for the women’s team, #2 seed for the men’s team. All games are being played in Boone starting on Tuesday, and both teams have a first-round bye.
