321 traffic into and out of Tennessee: starting this week TDOT has the road closed at Elk Mill General Store (Elk River) to replace a bridge. According to the TDOT website it will take until May of 2012 for the project to be complete.
“CONSTRUCTION
State Route 159 both directions in Carter County – Between SR-67 (US/HWY-321) RT. & (STATE HWY-67) LT. / BEGIN US/HWY-321) / {US-321} and CARTER-JOHNSON COUNTY LINE, bridge replacement construction will close the roadway every day. This work is expected to be completed by 5/31/2012.
CURRENT ACTIVITIES:
Starting June 22, 2011 and extending until the project is completed the road will be closed at L.M. 7.23 (Elk River). Motorist should be alert to detour signing. S.R. 159 will be open to local traffic to Poga Road on each end of the bridge.”
