Watauga County Schools will early release on Friday December 20 and are on break until January 6, 2025.
Ashe County Schools will early release on Friday December 20 and are on break until January 6, 2025.
Avery County Schools will early release on Friday December 20 and are on break until January 8, 2025.
App State first day of classes is January 13, 2025
Lees-McRae first day of classes is January 13, 2025
Caldwell Community College & TI first day of classes is January 8
Town of Boone offices are closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Dec 24, 25, 26 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025
Watauga County offices, including License Plate Agency and Courthouse, are closed Dec 24, 25 & 26 and January 1, 2025
Watauga County Sanitation Department, including container sites, will be closed December 24th and 25th. Open December 26th. Closed January 1, 2025
North Carolina Judicial Branch offices and courts are closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Dec 24, 25, 26 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025

The Christmas week trash pickup will be as follows:

Monday: Regular Schedule – the pickup will operate normally.
Tuesday: Rescheduled to Friday, December 27th
COMMERCIAL
Monday & Friday pickup, no Wednesday pickup

All Post Office locations will be closed Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1). Regular Post Office hours and mail delivery will resume on the Thursday after each holiday. See the schedule below for more details. - Blue Collection Boxes: Mail will be picked up by the scheduled collection times on the box. If the collection time has passed, find a Post Office location that may be open late.

- Local Post Office locations will be closed.
- Blue Collection Boxes: Mail will not be picked up.
- Regular mail will not be delivered.

- Local Post Office locations will be open. Remember to check your local Post Office for specific hours.
