The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, which includes Watauga County, for Monday until 7pm.
According to the Advisory, a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected. Minor accumulations of snow, sleet and ice may occur. The ice will result in very slippery conditions on sidewalks, roads and bridges. Total ice accumulations of a light glaze can be expected. A coating of snow could also occur.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
