The National Weather Service has canceled the Winter Weather Advisory that included Watauga and Ashe counties as of 3:02pm.
In another issued statement, at 3:03pm, the Weather Service warns that black ice will be possible tonight. The statement reads, “Melted snow will re-freeze as temperatures drop into the 20s this evening. Patches of black ice are possible on untreated and secondary roads as well as sidewalks. Use extreme caution when traveling this evening into Wednesday morning.”
