For the fifth time in the last two weeks, the West Jefferson Walmart was evacuated due to a bomb threat on Saturday (Aug 12, 2017).

According to the Jefferson Post, authorities were alerted shortly after 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12, that a caller had once again phoned Walmart’s West Jefferson location and said a bomb was rigged to explode within eight minutes. The report goes on to say, that the call was a recorded message instead of a live caller.

The store was cleared of customers and personnel, and a search did not find a bomb.

West Jefferson Police Chief Jeff Rose tells the paper that the investigation is continuing and said he believes all the hoax threats are connected. He said subpoenas are also in the works to help gather phone records that could help identify a culprit.
