A Watauga County School bus was involved in a minor accident on Payne Branch Road on Wednesday.  Garrett Price, Director of Communications for Watauga County Schools, tells WataugaOnline.com that two vehicles side-swiped while traveling a narrow section of the road. There were no injuries or charges stemming from the accident.

The bus was occupied by fewer than five students at the time of the collision, all of whom were unharmed and able to be picked up on scene by their parents, Price adds.  The damage to the bus was minimal.

Dr Scott Elliott, Superintendent of Watauga County Schools, said the bus driver did a tremendous job holding the bus on the road and avoiding a more serious accident, according to Price. “The bus could have possibly rolled over and gone off the embankment at the location — the driver did a great job of keeping everyone safe.”
