A wreck involving a Jeep Cherokee and a Watauga County Deputy brought traffic to a halt across Boone on Monday afternoon.

The accident, just before 4:30 pm, occured in front of the business Psychic Jessi at 1328 highway 105.

Watauga County Sheriff's Deputy Garrett Norris was traveling along 105 when the Jeep Cherokee, driven by Steve Miller, 71, of Boone, pulled out in front of Norris, according to a Boone Police report.

The Jeep then spun around and crashed into the business after apparently hitting the gas instead of the brake, per the report. A person was inside the business at the time but was in the back and did not sustain any injuries. Both Norris and Miller were transported to Watauga Medical Center for minor injuries.

Miller was cited with failure to yield the right of way.
