Two Tennessee Men Arrested in Multiple Larceny Cases

Two residents of Mountain City, TN have been arrested in connection with two larceny cases from two different Watauga County business. The Watauga County Sheriff's Office reports that Kevin Mark Buchanan, 42, of 3933 421 South, Mountain City and Jacob Ray Rash, 23, of 828 Drakes Creek, Mountain City, have been arrested and charged.

On December 20, 2012, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking and Entering and Larceny at Ward’s Automotive located at 134 Willowdale Church Road in Vilas . $150.00 along with vehicle radiators, aluminum wheels, a Diagnostic Car Scanner, a computer and a 1999 Ford F150 were taken.

On December 25, 2012, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, upon receiving information from Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an investigation in Mountain City and as a result located the 1999 Ford F150 taken from Ward’s Automotive. Buchanan and Rash were arrested by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and interviewed by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit. The 1999 Ford F150 and the Diagnostic Car Scanner were recovered during the investigation and returned to Ward’s Automotive.

On December 12, 2012, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office received a report from High Country Recycling located at 6400 US Highway 421 North in Vilas. High Country Recycling reported that an unknown suspect(s) entered their property and removed approximately $300.00 in miscellaneous scrap metal and copper.

Each man is charged with one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny, one count of felony larceny of a motor vehicle and one count of misdemeanor larceny. They remain in the custody of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office pending extradition to North Carolina. A court date has been set for January 24, 2013.
