As of 3:15am snow continues to fall but not at the pace of late Wednesday night. Snow totals into the Facebook page range from 1/2 inch to 2 inches depending on location.

4:23am per Boone Police – Icy conditions this morning, especially secondary roads. Slow down, use caution and plan for extra travel time.

22 degrees with a wind chill of 7 above in Boone at 5:05am

Ashe, Avery & Watauga Schools are closed today for students and staff.

6am – 194 north from Green Valley/Meat Camp reported slick til you get to DOT offices

6:25am from Watauga County dispatch – "Roads not too bad this morning. There are slick spots. Water seems to have flash frozen in please so use caution." "421 N from TN line to Boone is in pretty good shape. There are icy patches though. 105 S reported to have icy patches as well." "Wildcat Rd near the RHA group home is reported to be very slick."

6:25am – 421 from Old 421 in Deep Gap is wet with one line snow covered. Bamboo from 421 to Wilson's Ridge is mostly drive except for back in the trees where it is slick. Use caution there. Wilson's Ridge is fine. Deerfield is slick just past the S-bends. The intersection at Bamboo/Deerfield is ice so be VERY careful there. Bamboo slick at the airport.

6:35am from fb report – Roads in Blowing Rock Caldwell line is ice covered. .no treatment. .use caution.

6:42am from fb report – pretty patchy between Boone and the parkway bridge, but clear heading down the mountain.

AppalCART will be on regular schedule with limited routes for the Purple and Silver, until road conditions improve.

7am – not a lot of problem areas reported but still slick areas. Main roads per reports are good. 19 in Boone with wind chill of 3.

18 with wind chill -0 in Boone at 7:30am

Deerfield Rd between the two Bamboo Rds is very slick. DOT notified. Traffic very slow in the area.

Currently, there are no operations scheduled on 321 in Blowing Rock today due to weather. Slow down, stay alert.

10:40am – many of the trouble areas this morning have started to melt, but not quickly. Wind chills are still in the single digits. Be mindful of refreezing later today and tonight.

12:48pm – Watauga dispatch reporting "Georges Gap Rd about a tenth of a mile from Willard Johnson Rd a DOT truck is on it's side. Both lanes blocked."

1:35pm – getting a report that "Deerfield traffic is blocked both ways due to a house being moved and is stuck. That house is just past First Presbyterian Church on your way from town to Bamboo"
