As if traveling highway 194 between Valle Crucis and Banner Elk has not been bad enough the last several weeks a truck wreck on Tuesday made matters worse.
A tractor & trailer carrying 50,000 pounds of pellets got stuck coming down the mountain in the S curve just above where the road becomes one lane due to construction.
The wreck happen just after 11pm on Tuesday night and took until just before 2pm Wednesday to reopen the road. Published reports indicate that there were no injuries.
With all the construction on 194 there are no plans to improve the S curve, which has long been the worse part of that highway.
