Snow/Road Reports Saturday Feb 11

As of 4:30am there were just some minor flurries in the county, between then and 7:30am the snowfall rate had picked up noticeably. Most reports coming in around 7:30am just had a light dusting with the grass still visible.

7:48am – High Wind Warning from 1pm today to 4am Sunday, Winter Weather Advisory for Watauga & Ashe until 6am Sunday. Winter Storm Warning for Avery until 6am, Wind Chill Advisory for Avery from 7pm tonight to 10am Sunday.

7:50am – report coming in that at least part of Mountain Dale Road in the Beaver Dam/Bethel area is covered

8:30am – main roads are mainly just wet right now

8:57am – Dutch Creek Road in Valle Crucis is covered

9:15am – 321 from Boone to Blowing Rock reported wet and fine, very strong winds

*Flannery Fork: Scraped but frozen mud makes slow progress for thoroughfare

1:23pm – heavy snow and high winds are causing whiteout conditions across the area

3:12pm – Great lakes connection will keep snow falling in the mountains through Sunday morning per Brad Panovich.

3:56pm – There are several power outages across the High Country in the BREMCO service area. The following is the list of BREMCO members without power

4:23pm – Ashe 2
Alleghany – 1

4:40pm – All power back on. Outages were due to trees blowing into the power lines per BREMCO.
