Smoke drifted into the High Country on Wednesday, as the US Forest Service continues a controlled burn in McDowell County that started on Tuesday. The burn is part of the Grandfather Restoration Project, an 8-year project designed to restore 40,000 acres of the Grandfather Ranger District.

The burn is scheduled to conclude on Thursday and smoke may be visible in the High Country again.
