Silver Alert Issued For A Missing Watauga County Man

UPDATE – 6:10pm Wednesday Aug 1 – According to the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Lester “Allen” Trivette, who went missing last night from his home in the Green Valley community, was found deceased by searchers at approximately 4:50 p.m., Aug. 1. Mr. Trivette had been involved in an apparent motor vehicle accident.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol will be conducting the accident investigation going forward, and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

“On behalf of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Meat Camp Fire Department, Watauga County Emergency Management, Appalachian State University Emergency Management and Watauga Rescue Squad, we would like to express our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Trivette. We appreciate the support of all the volunteers who assisted with this search.”, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Trivette was a long time owner of a local tire shop and a former Watauga County Commissioner.


Wednesday August 1 10:35am – The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing endangered Watauga County man

Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for Lester Allen Trivette, age 68,  who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Trivette was last seen in the area of 1251 Soc Houck Road wearing white T Shirt- Blue Sweat Pants- Brown Work Boots. Trivette is 5'9 and weighs 180 pounds.
