Section Of Parkway In Deep Gap Closed Due To Mudslide From Friday Storms

UPDATE April 4, 2017 – Officials with the Blue Ridge Parkway are saying the closure is still in effect. Clean up and slope stabilization is required. That section will be closed at least through the end of this week.


UPDATE April 3, 2017 – Officials with the Blue Ridge Parkway are saying the roadway is still unstable.

A representative for the Blue Ridge Parkway says that the duration of the closure is still not known. They are still working on a plan.

 


A section of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Deep Gap is closed due to a mudslide. The closed portion is from Milepost 276.4 at the Highway 421 entrance, in Deep Gap, to Milepost 280.9 on old highway 421 near Parkway School. The National Park Service says that the section will be closed throughout the weekend and possible longer.
