So why would a website devoted to road and weather conditions in the rural mountains of North Carolina post about the death of a leading technology visionary?
Without Steve Jobs this outlet to inform Watauga County may not be here. The vision and innovation of the Iphone allows me to keep thousands of people up to date about events in this area with the touch of a few buttons. From updating this website and our facebook page and twitter a lot of the content is done via Iphone apps.
Here is what I posted on the facebook page “There are very few times that I post items off topic from this page. Tonight is one of those time. RIP Steve Jobs of Apple INC, your innovation of the Iphone allows me to keep thousands of people up to date about events in this area with the touch of a few buttons and has saved many people time,money,and worry. Technology and the world became a better place due to your vision. – KR”
I have worked in radio for over 20 years and owned a very small (meaning I am my only employee) dump trucking company for 16 years. Both of those fields are very much at the far end of the spectrum from each other (interviewing major musical stars to graveling a driveway for customers that paid their bill via $20 a week until it was paid). From growing up in a home with black and white TV with 3 channels to being able to reach thousands via the push of a few buttons, I truly have seen the power of Steve's innovation.
Hence I offer my very small tribute to the man that change technology.
