Monday Dec 3

Per DOT 9:40am- Water line relocation ops now in progress on #US321 in Blowing Rock. Affected areas include Mayview. Be prepared for service interruptions.

Tuesday Dec 4

33 degrees in Boone at 5:10am. Patchy fog this morning, cloudy and 60s today. 50% chance of rain tonight and tomorrow.

Only a degree warmer since 5:10am. It's 34 degrees in Boone at 8:35am. Patchy fog this morning, cloudy and 60s today. 50% chance of rain tonight and tomorrow.

59 degrees in Boone at 10:35am (a jump of 21 degrees in two hours) . The record high is 68 set in 1975, 67 was also recorded in 2001, 63 in 2006,1982 & 1956 for this date (per State Climate Office)

11:09am – Currently 37 Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation members without power in the 28698 area of Watauga.

Blue Ridge Electric tells me that linemen are investigating but have not found the cause yet – 11:24am

11:56am – Power is back on in the Vilas/Zionville areas, as many as 39 Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation members were affected during the outage this morning.

2:03pm – Per DOT- Possible lane closure on #US321 in Blowing Rock south of Rocky Knob Rd. at Blowing Rock Tire. Stay alert, expect delays.

2:59pm per DOT- US321 in Blowing Rock has reopened to traffic. There is a southbound lane closure at Cliff Dwellers. Stay alert, expect delays.

4:15pm getting text report of “bad accident on 105 in banner elk just past the light”. Also getting report of “Scotchman at Tynecastle. Emergency vehicles are dispatched. No traffic movement in either direction.”

4:22pm – getting report that traffic is moving on 105 around Tynecastle

Wednesday Dec 5

9:04am- per DOT Construction ops continue on 321 in Blowing Rock today. Lane closures at Cliff Dwellers inn. stay alert, expect delays.”

9:07am – from Boone PD – There is a large controlled burn in the area of Junaluska looking towards Howards Knob. Smoke & large flames are visible throughout town.

Additional lane closure on #US321 in Blowing Rock south of Rocky Knob Rd at Blowing Rock Tire. Stay alert, expect delays.

3:37am – From 3:15pm Wednesday to 3:15am the temp has fell from 54 to 26 in Boone.

6:56am – Highs only in the 40s today with a slight chance of rain. From 3:15pm Wednesday to 3:15am the temp fell from 54 to 26 in Boone.

7:57am – Rough start to the day for some in Ashe County with over 600 without power at 7:57am. Unknown reason at this time. 8:35am – Update from Blue Ridge – Update: Squirrel in substation caused this but linemen are working to get restoration quickly!

9:40am – Construction ops continue on #US321 in Blowing Rock today. Lane closures at Cliff Dwellers. Stay alert, expect delays.

9:55am – Reminder 321 detour today (and every Tues & Thursday) from 11am-3pm in Blowing Rock.

1:19pm – Only 43 in Boone at 1:18pm. Rain chances 20% tonight, 40% tomorrow per NWS. 50s Friday, maybe 60 Saturday.

2:05pm per DOT – All lanes on 321 in Blowing Rock now open to traffic. Stay alert, drive with caution.

2:28pm – It appears we have reached the daytime high today (44 at 1:15pm). Feels like it could snow but none is in the forecast.

4:28pm – Cloudy with 60% chance of rain tonight, lows in 30s

5:19pm- a disabled vehicle is blocking the road near the quarry on Bamboo Road causing backups in that area.

5:35pm – also getting report of a wreck on Bamboo Rd just near 421, not sure yet if this is same situation as earlier or a different one.

5:40pm – possible delays near Taco Bell on 321 due to wreck (per scanner dispatch). 5:44pm – cars are out of the road per scanner

8:25pm – getting report of foggy conditions on 221 to Coffey Gap in Blowing Rock

Friday Dec 7

5:43am – Cloudy with slight chance of rain today, highs in 50s today, 60s tomorrow.

9:18am per DOT- Limited construction ops on #US321 in Blowing Rock today due to rain, fog. All travel lanes open today. Stay alert, drive with care.

51 degrees at 10:50am in Boone, rain chances are 20% for the afternoon. Does it have that feel of snow in the air to you today?

11:12am – DELAYS POSSIBLE on 105 extension as fire dept responses to fire call at Papa John's Pizza

11:21am – fire under control at Papa's John's Pizza on 105 ext per scanner, still possible delays in the area.

Saturday Dec 8

8:15pm – Motor vehicle accident on NC 194 N near Castle Ford Rd. Subject Pinned in and the road could be closed awhile.
