Power Restoration Continues for Watauga

LENOIR, NC (Sept. 12, 2017, 6  am update) – Blue Ridge Energy crews continue power restoration work early Tuesday morning after battling high winds and downed trees throughout Monday night that led to continuing outages from line damage in multiple locations across the service area.

In hardest hit Watauga County, line technicians are working to repair damage in the remaining 16 different locations to restore power to 1,109 members. These are primarily in the areas of Shulls Mill Road, Yonahlossee, and Poplar Grove Road. Additionally, tree removal efforts are underway for a blocked area along Hwy 105 South in Foscoe.

In Ashe County, work continues to restore 113 members primarily in the Wiley Gambill Road and Willie Brown Road areas.

In Alleghany County, crews continue restoration efforts for another 113 members in the Thunder Road, Miller Creek, Meadow Ford and Cleary Road areas.

In Caldwell County, restoration work continues for five affected members in the Dudley Shoals community.

Members should report outages to the Blue Ridge Energy PowerLine at 1-800-448-2383. Or, report it directly using the Blue Ridge mobile app, available for free in app stores.

Downed power lines are a concern. The cooperative reminds the public to stay far away from downed lines! Downed power lines can be dangerous, even deadly. Report downed power lines to Blue Ridge Energy at 1-800-451-5474 or call 911 immediately.

High winds and heavy rain were predicted to particularly impact Watauga and Ashe counties. Line technicians, additional contractor crews and all employees were on high alert, ready respond.
