A portion of 321 in Cove Creek was closed overnight due to the high volume of stranded motorist. In the 1am hour the Watauga County Communications dispatch office tweeted out that officers were closing the road from Skateworld to Rominger Road. Just before 5am the office tweeted out to stay off the roads if possible as NCDOT is having to pick their way through stranded cars.
At 5:35am the road is back open the office says.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7am this morning, with a Wind Chill Advisory in effect until 10am Sunday morning.
