Police Chase That Began In Wilkes County Leads To Arrest Of Juvenile Driver In Watauga County

A police chase that began in Wilkes County lead to the arrest of a juvenile driver in Watauga County. 

According to a Watauga County Sheriff's Office report, a mutual aid request from Wilkes County came in on Saturday night, in the area of the county line on HWY 421 South. North Wilkesboro PD had been in a pursuit with a black Nissan Altima traveling towards Watauga at approximately 100+ mph, according to the report. North Wilkesboro PD discontinued their pursuit when they reached the construction zone near the county line.

Watauga deputies observed the vehicle near North Pine Run Road traveling around 80 mph. A deputy attempted to catch up to the vehicle as it took off down Old 421 South. The deputy followed while the other deputies sat up at the entrance to Blue Ridge Electric. A felony stop was performed and as the driver saw the deputy setting up spike strips he decided to stop.

The driver was a 16 year old juvenile male. The other two occupants were a 15 year old juvenile male and a 14 year old juvenile female.

North Wilkesboro PD responded to the location and arrested the driver. The vehicle was towed and seized by North Wilkesboro PD. Deputies contacted the other two juvenile’s parents who responded to the scene and picked them up. The driver was cited for speeding and Non Operators License (NOL).
