15 power outages remain in Watauga as of 9:49 am

The storm shelter set up on Monday in Watauga County will close at 10am today (Tuesday). Those that may still need assistance can call Red Cross 828-264-8226

The office of Watauga County Emergency Management is asking those impacted by the storm in Watauga County to contact their office. The agency says if your home or business was damaged due to Monday’s flooding event send them an email to Wataugacountyem@gmail.com. Be sure to include contact information and any pictures of the flooding/damage with your report.

Payne Branch Road near Flat Top Road cut into by flood waters. Alternate route US321 north to Winklers Creek Road (SR1549) turn left and go to Payne Branch Road.

Boone recorded 5.24 inches of rain at Watauga Med Center, and 5.95 at the BOONE 1SE wx station for Monday.

Watauga County Schools will operate on a 2 hr delay for Tues. Oct. 24 for students and staff. Buses will travel regular routes.
