A mudslide on 421 near the Wilkes County line caused minor delays for traffic on Saturday night (July 27, 2013).
DOT crews responded to the area to perform cleanup operations per Watauga County dispatch. Though Watauga County was spared the flooding rains that most of the foothills encountered Saturday, the late evening rains were just enough to cause this slide.
