High Country motorist should be aware of changes in schedules, and local events that will impact traffic the rest of this week and weekend.

Watauga County Schools will release early both Thursday and Friday (Oct 29 & 30) for parent teacher conferences. Students will be dismissed from the K-8 schools at 12 noon and from the high school at 1pm. Buses will run their regular routes and both breakfast and lunch will be served. Expect increased traffic in school zones and buses on the roads during the midday.

On Friday a section of King Street will be closed for Boone Boo! See this link for more information.

On Saturday a combination of trick-or-treaters and those arriving for Appalachian State's home football game will fill up local roads. It's Family Weekend on campus, with the game kicking off against Troy at 3:30pm.

As night falls be aware of trick-or-treaters all across the county. The Boone Police Department offer up tips for a safe night at this link.

Along with other visitors to the area that might be trying to catch a final peek at the remaining leaves, all motorist should allow plenty of extra travel time and have a safe weekend.
