Governor Pat McCrory has ordered all North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, July 20, 2015. This order is in honor of four United States Marines and a United States Navy petty officer slain in a Chattanooga, TN shooting attack, an incident being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism.

“We are eternally grateful for the risks and sacrifices the men and women of our military bear each time they put on the uniform, regardless of where they serve,” Governor McCrory said. “All of North Carolina is heartbroken over the tragedy in Chattanooga. We are praying for the victims and their families, as well as for the safety of every American soldier, marine, airman, sailor and those serving in the Coast Guard, here in North Carolina and throughout the world.”
