A founding executive of Tropicana Products Inc. and a longtime Blowing Rock civic leader passed away last week.
Kenneth Alan Barnebey, age 86, passed away on February 2, 2018. Barnebey retired as Board Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tropicana in 1981.
Locally, Barnebey was an associate member of First Baptist Church of Blowing Rock, a director of the Blowing Rock Stage Company, Blowing Rock Hospital, Blowing Rock Home for Women and was president of the Blowing Rock Country Club.
Barnebey was also very active with many corporate and civic organizations in Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to En Gedi Retreat, c/o Carl Walker, Post Office Box 774926, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, a retreat for clergy and their families.
A visitation was held at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home today in Bradenton, FL. A burial service for the family will be conducted Saturday afternoon, March 3, 2018, at 1:00 o'clock, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
